Entry for April 27, 2007
Hello all! I've not blogged with pics in awahile bc our main computer is in the shop! :( We are definitely dependent on that thing and it's crazy! I didn't realize until it was gone! :( Well, hopefully our memory will be saved, if not, we've lost ALOT of pics and videos and documents and other things. :( We're still praying that it isn't all lost. Well, I hope you all are having a good Friday. It's Fiesta! We don't do Fiesta, but I'd love to hear of anyone who did! :) We will just enjoy our day together (Ben's off today).
I do have a story about Rachel, she woke up with a runny nose today, so we figured she had allergies. She was pretty normal all morning and when we were getting ready to go to lunch. (We had plans to go see Chrissy (my cousin) during her lunch break at Las Palapas to visit and catch up.) Well, that was the plan, but that's NOT what happened. Rachel seemed to be very uncomfortable in the chair at the restaraunt, so I had her in my lap and she just KEPT crying. She was not able to stop (that's not like her at all). SHe had RSV when she was 7 mos. old and you couldn't tell bc she was still so upbeat and for the most part herself, so crying uncontrollably is not like her at all! Well, she cried for another 10 mins or so when I finally told Chrissy and Ben that we'd have to go. I didn't know what was wrong with her. She was so uncomfortable and me holding her wasn't helping either and people in the restaraunt were starting to look and stare to see what we were doing to the poor child. Well, we got our food togo and put her in the car and she stopped crying and was a little better, but her eyes were all puffy by now and she just looked miserable. :( We said or good-byes to Chrissy and apologized (of course she totally understood). Rachel fell asleep like 3 mins. into the drive and was out. She slept for about 35 mins ( we ended up staying in the car to eat our food so she could just sleep in the carseat upright, which would help her breathing with a runny nose). (The things we do for our kids!)Well, she finally woke up and was still fussy. We didn't know what to do, but she didn't have a temp. I finally put on Elmo and she was like if nothing happened. She ate while watching Elmo and was pretty normal again. She was pretty gassy, so I figured that her stomach was bothering her at Las Palapas, so she was in pain from that. She let a lot of gas out during her video and then she was pretty normal again. It was good to see her like that again. We just put her down for her 2nd nap and hopefully she will sleep well.
Wow, what a day! I was happy that Ben was here to help support me. It' s such a blessing to have a wonderful husband who helps out as much as he does. :) I am going to still thank my God for being with us through good and bad. He keeps up going strong and that's what we need on this earth. :) Thank you Father God!
Have a nice weekend and keep in touch!

“Come to me…and I will give you rest.” Matthew 11:28
This is today's devotional from Max and I wanted to share it with you all because it has ministered to me greatly recently. I was having a hard time sleeping in December and some of January, but going to GOD when I was worried or anxious I found that HE DID give me REST! I am so greatful to HIM for all that HE has done for me. I am so glad that HE's right here with me at all times! I am feeling so much more peace and comfort because I am learning to go to God first and trust in HIM! I hope that you are uplifted by this too. It is so true and can work for you too. I pray that you are doing well. Keep in touch!

I wasn't able to "blog" this past weekend because we were having problems with our main computer. It's sad how much we rely on our computer and use it! We are going to take it to get fixed today or tomorrow, but we're praying that we don't lose all that is on our hard drive because we had many things on there including all the pics of Rachel that we've taken in the last 2 years! I am so sad about losing that. Also, Ben had many things saved on there for his school and classwork for his master's classes, so I hope that he doesn't lose that either.
I know that this is a little thing considering everything else going on in the world, so I'm not getting down about it. Thank God my family is together and we're safe and healthy. I know that we have God to help us through anything that happens, small or BIG!
I pray that this finds you happy and healthy! Please let me know how you are doing, I'd love to hear from you too! God bless you all! Love, Melony

It takes wisdom to have a good family, and it takes understanding to make it strong. Proverbs 24:3
Do you believe in your kids? Then show up. Show up at their games. Show up at their plays. Show up at their recitals. It may not be possible to make each one, but it's sure worth the effort....
Do you believe in your friends? Then show up. Show up at their graduations and weddings. Spend time with them.
You want to bring out the best in someone? Then show up.
Great devotional from Max Lucado! I just wanted to share! :)

About Ben:
he's teaching 7th grade math this year. The previous 3 years he was teaching 6th grade math/science. He's also been taking some courses in Science for the masters program that he's in right now. He's studying hard after school and on the weekends to keep up with his studies at Incarnate Word University. I don't know how he does it! I'm like totally not into science like he is. :)
How Ben and I met:
For those of you who don't know how we met, here goes. We went to Clark high school together (Aug. '91) and both of us were in band in the percussion section (I knew then, that I liked him, but didn't say or do anything bc I was TOO shy). We became friends for the remaining years of high school. During our senior year, we started hanging out more outside of school. I wouldn't call them dates, but just hanging out (BTW, we started working at Bill Millers too at the same time during our Junior year in HS.) It was funny! So we really hung out alot and we started dating a few times during our senior year, but by prom he was ready to take it a step further and become bf/gf, but I was not ready (too scared by then). :)
Well, he went off to TX A&M and I stayed here @ UTSA, and we started writing to each other and keeping in touch through phone calls and by January 1996, we were "officially" bf/gf! ;) (I was a real "prude" so it took me awhile!) We've been together ever since and were engaged in March 1999 and married in June 2000 (only after we graduated college). :) It's all gone by so fast! I am amazed at how time flies when we are having fun! :) We are going to be enjoying our 7 year anniversary on June 3rd! I can't believe it! Thank God, we're stronger than ever and more in love than ever! (Don't get me wrong, everythings not perfect, but we have a great relationship, thanks to God!)
Well, I just went on and on and going down memory lane for me is so much fun!
